What is HantaData?
HantaData is a real-time global hantavirus signal tracking platform. It aggregates and visualizes media mentions and health surveillance reports about hantavirus activity worldwide, providing a live view of where hantavirus is being reported in the news.
The platform monitors 18+ data sources continuously and presents the data as an interactive world map, time series charts, country statistics, and a live news feed. Data refreshes every 30 minutes.
How Data is Collected
HantaData uses an automated pipeline that continuously fetches RSS feeds from global health news sources. Each article is parsed for hantavirus-related keywords, the country of origin is detected using geographic entity recognition, and the article is deduplicated against recently seen content.
The resulting signal count per country reflects the volume of news and health reports mentioning hantavirus activity in that region — not clinical case counts.
